Job Description
Treatment Specialists is seeking a dependable and compassionate Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our team in Sumter, South Carolina.
The LPN plays a vital role in delivering quality patient care in our outpatient opioid treatment program. This position is responsible for conducting the majority of patient intake nursing assessments and annual nursing assessments, performing in-house laboratory services, administering medications as assigned, providing patient education, and ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations. Our nurses work independently while collaborating with providers, counselors, and clinic leadership to deliver safe, compassionate, and patient-centered care.
The ideal candidate is organized, adaptable, and confident working independently in a fast-paced clinical environment while maintaining professionalism, strong clinical judgment, and attention to detail.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct and complete the majority of patient intake nursing assessments and annual nursing assessments.
- Perform phlebotomy and collect laboratory specimens.
- Perform in-house urine drug screening (dip testing) in accordance with clinic policy.
- Perform TB skin testing.
- Prepare, package, and process specimens for reference laboratory testing.
- Administer medications as assigned.
- Provide patient education regarding medications, treatment plans, laboratory testing, clinic policies, and health-related concerns within the scope of nursing practice.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and complete clinical documentation.
- Ensure compliance with clinic policies, nursing standards, and all applicable state and federal regulations.
- Collaborate with providers, counselors, and clinic leadership to support daily clinic operations.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and professional boundaries.
- Perform other nursing duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Active, unencumbered South Carolina LPN license.
- Current CPR certification.
- Strong phlebotomy skills required.
- Ability to independently perform venipuncture with confidence.
- Experience performing TB skin testing.
- Experience performing point-of-care urine drug screening (dip testing).
- Experience collecting, processing, and preparing laboratory specimens for reference laboratory testing.
- Strong assessment, documentation, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Reliable transportation.
- Ability to consistently work early morning shifts.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in an outpatient, behavioral health, substance use treatment, or other fast-paced clinical setting.
- Experience with Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) or an Opioid Treatment Program (OTP) preferred.
- Familiarity with state and federal regulatory requirements, including DEA, SAMHSA, and South Carolina OTP regulations.
- Strong critical thinking and clinical assessment skills.
- Professional, dependable, adaptable, and committed to maintaining patient confidentiality.
